Guwahati Hotel Firing: 5 Killed, 1 Injured; accused arrested within an hour

Five people were killed and one person injured in a firing incident at Hotel Bilas Inn in the Bora Service area of Guwahati, Assam, at around 9 PM. Guwahati Police Commissioner Dr. Partha Sarathi Mahanta said the accused, identified as Ghanakanta Gogoi, was apprehended within an hour of the incident, and the weapon used in the shooting was seized. According to the preliminary investigation, the firing may have stemmed from a property dispute related to the hotel's lease agreement. Police said four of the deceased belonged to the same family, while the fifth victim and the injured person were from the same village. A thorough investigation is underway to establish the circumstances behind the incident.
