Surat moves towards Zero Waste City through C&D waste recycling

Surat, traditionally known for its diamond and textile industries, is now setting a national benchmark in sustainable urban waste management, progressing towards becoming a Zero Waste City. Under the State Government’s Urban Development Year initiative, the Surat Municipal Corporation aims to achieve 100% recycling of construction and demolition (C&D) waste within two years. Central to this effort is the Kosad C&D Waste Recycling Plant, which processes 300 metric tonnes daily and currently treats 80 tonnes of demolition waste.
