India to go under total lockdown for 21 days from midnight, announces PM Modi

New Delhi, Mar 24 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on March 24 a nationwide lockdown from midnight which is ‘stricter’ than previous ‘Janta Curfew’. He said, “From 12 AM tonight there will be a complete lockdown across the country. In the view of the current situation, the nationwide complete lockdown will be in place for 21 days - 3 weeks. If we are not able to manage the upcoming 21 days (of nationwide complete lockdown), we will be pushed back 21 years.” This is PM Modi’s second address on coronavirus in past 5 days. Total coronavirus positive cases rose to 519 (including 39 discharged people and 9 deaths) on March 24, according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
