New Delhi, 3 November (ANI): The schoolchildren are more vulnerable to online threats because of their exposure to cyber-space and their inquisitive nature. The traditional ways of policing and crime prevention are not effective in cyber-space. It has been accepted that the best way to counter it is through awareness. On the awareness front, Delhi Police Cyber Crime unit recently conducted a mass awareness program under ‘Cyber UDAY: Universal Direct Awareness in Youth’ for school children. More than thirteen thousand students from 58 schools from across Delhi participated in this program. Students were made aware of issues such as ‘sexting’ and risks of sharing private images with a stranger. They were also made aware of cyber-bullying and cyber-grooming. The main focus was on guiding students on how to handle various social media platforms and what to do when faced with any kind of hostility on inappropriate behaviour online.
