Mar 04, 2020

Geneva (Switzerland), Mar 04 (ANI): World Sindhi Congress held a demonstration in front of the United Nations in Geneva to raise the issue of persecution of minorities, especially the Hindus, in Sindh province of Pakistan. The Sindhis were joined by Pashtun, Kashmiri and Baloch political activists. In recent years, several incidents of forced abduction and conversion of Hindu girls by the Muslims have shaken the minority community in Pakistan and they have demanded justice to save their religion, culture and ethos. Mehak Kumari, a minor Hindu girl, was forcibly converted and married to a Muslim man in Pakistan’s Sindh province. The protesters called Pakistan as abuser of human rights and demanded justice for Mehak Kumari.. Such incidents have sparked widespread criticism as many victim families are forced to migrate in foreign countries, including India. In 1947, non Muslims comprised 23 percent of Pakistan’s population and that by 2011 reduced by 3.7 percent.
