‘Play For Peace’ J&K police organizes cricket tournament in Srinagar

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Sep 30 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir police plays a vital role to promote sports culture in the region. In the time of IPL matches, state police has organized a cricket tournament called ‘Play For Peace’. It was held at Sher-e-Kashmir stadium in Srinagar. Total number of 16 teams from different parts of Valley participated in this tournament. A cricket player, Sameer said, “It’s been almost one and half year, we played a tournament, we want this exercise to be continued, so that youth of Valley get better opportunity. These kinds of tournaments will be helpful for drug addicted youth also, to keep them away from bad habits.”Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar and organizing secretary of the tournament, Doctor Haseeb Mughal said, “Since August 05 (Abrogation of article 370) and COVID-19 pandemic started, this is the first time a tournament has been played here. We wanted to give the local budding talents a constructive platform to perform.” J&K police is planning to organize a big tournament including more such sports, soon.
