New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): Billionaire businessman George Soros has sparked a row in India with his remarks on the country’s democracy. In a conference in Munich, Soros said that “PM Modi is no democrat” and questioned his links with Gautam Adani. India is an interesting case. It’s a democracy, but its leader Narendra Modi is no democrat. Inciting violence against Muslims was an important factor in his meteoric rise. Modi and business tycoon Adani are close allies; their fate is intertwined. Adani Enterprises tried to raise funds in the stock market, but he failed. Modi is silent on the subject, but he will have to answer questions from foreign investors and in parliament,” said George Soros, Founder, Soros Fund Management. Post his comments, Union Ministers came forward and gave a befitting reply to the billionaire. Smriti Irani called him an “economic war criminal”, while Dr S Jaishankar termed him as “rich and dangerous man”. Geopolitical expert Abhijit Iyer Mitra alleged that Soros wants a government which is manipulable. He also claimed that Congress has more links with Soros than PM Modi has with Gautam Adani. Mitra alleged that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s daughter works for George Soros’ organisation. According to Soros’ website, he has given over USD 32 billion to fund the Open Society Foundations. Open Society Foundation claims it supports organisations across the globe fighting for “freedom of expression”.
