Manipur unites in grief after Air India tragedy

Imphal / Churachandpur (Manipur), June 15 ANI : Manipur is grieving the heart-breaking loss of two young lives—one Meitei, one Kuki—who were among the ten cabin crew members killed in the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. The victims were 21-year-old Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam from Thoubal district, and 28-year-old Lamnunthem Singson, who had been displaced by the ethnic violence in 2023 and was living in Kangpokpi. In a state torn by deep ethnic divisions, where many have lost their lives and thousands remain displaced, this tragedy has stirred a rare moment of shared humanity. Civil society groups from both Meitei and Kuki communities have set aside differences to mourn together — a powerful reminder that grief knows no boundaries. In loss, Manipur has found a moment of unity.
