Manipur aspirants struggle as highway restrictions disrupt exam access

Jun 16, 2025

In conflict-hit Churachandpur, Manipur, government job aspirants are battling immense challenges due to the absence of a local exam centre. Since violence erupted on May 3, students preparing for SSC, NDA, NEET, UPSC, and UGC-NTA exams have been forced to travel hundreds of kilometres to Aizawl, Guwahati, or Agartala, facing huge financial burdens, physical strain, and emotional stress. Coaching centres like ULTIMATE and student groups such as SSPP and ZSF have stepped in to support aspirants, but many students still miss crucial exams simply because they can't afford to travel. Voices like Tiffany Simte, Ginmuan, and Samuel Taithul are calling for urgent government action to establish an exam centre in Churachandpur to ensure fair competition and equal access to opportunities.
