Kargil (J&K), March 6, 2026 (ANI): In a historic and unprecedented display of unity, tens of thousands of residents of Kargil district gathered for Friday prayers followed by a massive protest organized by the Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Ashriya Kargil Ladakh (JUIAK), condemning the assassination of Ayatollah al-Uzma Syed Ali Khamenei, U.S.-Zionist aggression, and the violent suppression of mourners worldwide. The turnout far exceeded expectations, compelling organizers to expand the prayer venue, yet many remained unable to enter, highlighting the community’s deep concern. Led by Markazi Imam Jumma Sheikh Ghulam Ali Muffedi, the protesters marched through the Main Bazaar to Isna Ashriya Chowk, chanting slogans against attacks on Muslim lands and leadership. Speakers including Syed Mehdi Tambis and Sajjad Kargil condemned global double standards, citing lethal crackdowns in Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Karachi, Iraq, and Bahrain, while Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi called the assassination a “terrorist act” and urged international human rights intervention. The peaceful rally concluded with prayers invoking justice, protection of Muslim lands, and continued resistance until the reappearance of Hazrat Imam Mehdi (AJ).
