J&K Sports Council holds open selection football trial for Sub-Junior National Football Championship

Description: Srinagar (J&K), September 18, 2025 (ANI): The Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council conducted an open selection trial to raise the Jammu & Kashmir football team (boys) for the upcoming Sub-Junior National Football Championship scheduled to begin on 16th October2025, the trials witnessed enthusiastic participation from many young footballers across the region, who gathered with hopes of representing Jammu & Kashmir at the national level. The event created an inspiring atmosphere as budding players showcased their talent and determination under the watchful eyes of selectors and coaches. Many participants expressed their gratitude, calling this initiative a great step by the Sports Council. We are kids, and we are the future of Jammu & Kashmir. Opportunities like this motivate us to work harder and dream bigger,” said one of the young players. Parents and coaches also appreciated the council’s efforts, emphasizing that such programs are vital to nurturing grassroots talent and building a stronger sporting culture in the UT, the ongoing selection trials are being conducted for children born between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2013. This means all eligible boys from these birth years can participate. There was a large turnout at the venue today, with many participants coming from different parts of Kashmir. These trials are specifically for the Kashmir Division, while similar selections are also being held simultaneously in the Jammu Division. The officials said that the maximum number of talented participants will be shortlisted from this process. The final selection will be compiled after combining the shortlisted candidates from both Jammu and Kashmir divisions. The trials, for players born between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2013, saw enthusiastic participation from across the Kashmir region. Similar trials are also underway in the Jammu Division. The final team will be selected by combining shortlisted players from both divisions.
