Floriculture sector in Kashmir gets a boost with advanced oil extraction plant

Srinagar (J&K), Jul 29 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir government has setup the first oil extraction plant in Srinagar to create new source of employment for the youth of valley, and boost overall floriculture sector in Kashmir. After getting the status of a Union Territory (UT), the J&K government is pushing new initiatives to boost alternate farming technique and enhance the source of income for farmers. The oil extraction plant was recently inaugurated at Directorate Office of Agriculture Department at Lal Mandi. Since flowers have good medicinal value, and some of them including rose and lavender have also aromatic value, people across the world use them at large scale. The farmers engaged in floriculture can sell their produce at this unit and earn better livelihood. One of the employees at the oil extraction plant said, “I would like to thank the government as they have started this project here. It is the first time-ever that an oil extraction plant has been setup in Srinagar. We are very grateful of them. It will create new source of employment for youth of valley.” A flower grower said, “If we talk about flowers, this is a very useful plant because here in the Valley, we get variety of flowers. Government has taken a very good decision as it will offer more employment to the youth.”
