‘FIR launched, police detained…’ controversy erupts as Delhi-Shimla Police clash over arrest of 3

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Feb 26 2026 (ANI): High-voltage drama erupted involving the Delhi Police and Shimla Police over the arrest of three accused in the AI protest case. Both the state police reportedly clashed over the arrest of three accused Congress youth members who had taken part in the AI Protest.The development comes after reported heated altercations b/w Delhi & Himachal police over the arrest of culprits. According to Shimla police, 15-20 unidentified persons reportedly picked up the three individuals from the resort on Feb 25. The complainant further alleged that the DVR of CCTV cameras installed at the Chanshal resort was taken away without any seizure memo or receipt. When the Delhi Police again attempted to take the accused towards Delhi, the team was stopped at a barrier on the outskirts of Shimla. Before a larger controversy erupted, the matter was initially placed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, who forwarded it to the court of ACJM-II for hearing.
