
Vietnam reports 11,594 new COVID-19 cases

Hanoi (Vietnam), February 5: Vietnam reported 11,594 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 11,586 locally transmitted and eight imported, according to its Ministry of Health.
The Vietnamese capital Hanoi remained the locality with the highest number of infections on Friday with 2,756 cases, followed by northern Nam Dinh province with 620 cases and central Quang Nam province with 594 cases.
The new infections brought the country's total tally to 2,315,689 with 38,147 deaths. Nationwide, as many as 2,102,456 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered.
Some 181.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including 28.4 million third shots, have been administered, according to the ministry.
Vietnam has by far gone through four coronavirus waves of increasing scale, complication and infectivity. As of Friday, the country has registered over 2.3 million locally transmitted COVID-19 cases since the start of the current wave in late April last year, said the ministry.
