UK and EU face drug shortage

London [UK], April 19: Many patients in the UK and European Union (EU) are facing shortages of important medicines such as antibiotics and epilepsy drugs, according to research published by the Nuffield Trust (UK) on April 18. .
Research shows that drug shortages have become the "new normal" in the UK and are "also having a serious impact on EU countries", according to AFP.
Research shows the number of warnings from pharmaceutical companies about impending drug shortages in the UK has increased from 648 in 2020 to 1,634 in 2023. Mr. Paul Rees, Chief Executive of the Pharmaceutical Society country (UK), said that drug shortages were "completely unacceptable".
