May 23, 2021

Houston (US), May 23: Hundreds of people gathered in Houston, the fourth largest city of the United States, on Saturday to show support to the Palestinian people.
The "Houston Stands with Palestine" rally blocked streets in the city, with several people detained by police as the event turned tense.
People held banners with slogans including "Free Palestine," "No peace No Justice," "We Can't Breathe" along the streets, showing their solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Protestors were seen breaking through a barrier set up on the street as they demanded to march down the street.
The rally started at noon and continued for several hours, impacting traffic in the area. The Houston Police Department asked people to take alternative routes.
Israel launched massive raids on the Gaza Strip with airstrikes, artillery shellings and drone attacks starting May 10, in response to the rockets fired by Palestinian militants in the enclave to retaliate for Israel's violation of the sacred Islamic holy site of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
So far, 232 Palestinians, including 65 children and 39 women, and 12 Israelis were killed in the fighting.
Israel and Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, accepted an Egyptian-brokered deal to cease the 11-day bloodshed beginning Friday morning.
