Iran says it plans to hold technical discussion with UN nuclear watchdog
Feb 17, 2026
Geneva [Switzerland], February 17: Iran plans to hold high-level talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Monday, amid ongoing tensions over the country's nuclear programme.
Araghchi wrote on social media platform X that he would meet IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in Geneva on Monday for what he described as a "deep technical discussion." He said he would be joined by nuclear experts.
Araghchi travelled to Switzerland on Sunday for the next round of negotiations with the United States. In early February, the two countries began a renewed dialogue in Oman following military threats by US President Donald Trump. The talks in Geneva are again being mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi. Switzerland, like several Gulf states, is viewed by Tehran as a neutral intermediary. (DPA)
