Director with a PhD in economics reveals the stage design for the Miss Vietnam final

Nov 05, 2026

Hanoi [Vietnam], November 5: "A memorable show needs moments that are beautiful, profound, and appear at the right time to touch the audience," director Tran Tu revealed about the Miss Vietnam 2026 final.
Director Tran Tu had worked in various professions before finding his calling as a director. He pursued a PhD in economics and taught, fulfilling his family's expectations. When he entered the arts, he started behind the scenes to gain experience. There were periods when he faced skepticism and his efforts went unappreciated. But instead of giving up, Tran Tu persevered with his chosen path.
"I don't think I'm the best, so I always have to try harder. Having held many different positions, I understand and appreciate the efforts of each person in a team. The difficulties, even the failures, have helped me grow and shape the mindset I have today," Tran Tu shared.

After years of experience, Tran Tu gradually stepped out of his comfort zone, but still maintained his unwavering principle - kindness. Speaking about this, he shared: "I can be quite stubborn when defending what I believe is right about my profession and artistic quality, but my determination in my work doesn't mean a lack of respect for my colleagues. No matter what position I'm in, I always remind myself to work, treat everyone kindly, and do my job with sincerity and responsibility."
Throughout Tran Tu's journey, Miss Vietnam has always held a special place. In 2014, when he first participated in the program, he harbored the dream of one day returning as the overall director. And after nearly 12 years, that goal has come true.
Sharing her thoughts on her role as the general director of Miss Vietnam 2026, Tran Tu said: "I have had the opportunity to be behind the scenes of many beauty pageants, and together with the team, I have experienced countless moments of tears, laughter, pressure, and exhilaration. These experiences have given me a certain understanding of the unique nature of a beauty pageant, where the art of performance is not simply about creating a beautiful stage, but also about highlighting the value, story, and unique beauty of each girl."
For Miss Vietnam, what Trần Tú particularly cherishes is its rich tradition and the four core values that the competition always strives for: beauty, culture, intelligence, and dedication. And what he particularly appreciates is incorporating Vietnamese culture into contemporary art. "I don't want cultural values to appear merely as illustrations. I hope they truly become part of the staging language, conveyed through music, lighting, space, movement, and emotion," he shared.
According to the director, a beauty pageant final must first and foremost ensure legitimacy, fairness, and complete content according to the competition format. However, it must also be an artistic program with rhythm, emotion, and the ability to keep the audience engaged.
