Al Thumama Ramadan Football: Al Wajba lift trophy

Doha [Qatar], April 2: Al Wajba scored a thrilling solitary goal win over Al Rayyan in the final of the Al Thumama Ramadan Football Tournament to lift the trophy at the Al Furjan Stadium, capping their strong run in the youth competition for players aged 10 to 14.
The third edition of the tournament has been hugely popular over the years and this year's edition was no different despite being paused for a while due to the regional cicumstances.
The champions received QR7,000 along with gold medals, while the team's captain marked the occasion by wearing a traditional bisht during the awards ceremony, echoing a memorable football moment from Qatar's recent history.
Al Raya Medical secured third place after defeating Al Shaab 2-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw, earning QR3,000 and bronze medals. Al Rayyan finished runners-up, taking home QR5,000 and silver medals.
The tournament is organized by Al Thumama's local organizing committee in cooperation with the Qatar Sports for All Federation, bringing together 13 teams from across the country.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee Hassan Ali Al Ishaq praised the event's execution and impact, saying: "This year's tournament was a model of organisation and professionalism. It brought together teams from across Qatar and provided a valuable opportunity to discover young talent." He added: "We received many positive comments, and the tournament continues to grow as a leading Ramadan event for age groups."
Executive Director of the federation Abdullah Al Dosari highlighted its continued development, stating: "We will continue to organise tournaments in a strong and distinctive manner." He added that the competition's success reflects the efforts of the organizing team and its role in encouraging youth participation in sport.
Tournament Director Youssef Ali Abdulnoor underlined the level of competition, saying: "We are delighted with the great success of this edition."
He added: "The tournament has become an important platform for discovering talent, and we have seen players with promising potential. The Al Wajba team deservedly won the title. I extend my thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this edition."
