Hanoi [Vietnam], April 9: Moved by the plight of the young child in 'Vietnamese Family Shelter', actress Thanh Huong donated money from her own pocket to support her, earning the appreciation of the audience.
Episode 181 of "Vietnamese Family Home" airs with MC Duong Hong Phuc as the host, along with two guest appearances: Meritorious Artist Duc Khue and actress Thanh Huong. They will join forces to overcome the program's challenges in order to win prize money to support underprivileged children.
Upon his appearance, Meritorious Artist Duc Khue surprised the audience by singing the song " City of Red Phoenix Flowers ." The male artist said that the charitable journey of the Vietnamese Family Shelter has supported many children in difficult circumstances. He expressed his pride in being a part of the program and readily accepted the invitation to participate, even though the challenges required high physical fitness.
During the program, Bui Hai Dang's circumstances evoked much sympathy from viewers. His father passed away in 2018 due to cirrhosis, and he currently lives with his mother, Phan Thi Yen (born in 1984). Both mother and son suffer from congenital heart disease.
Since her husband passed away, Ms. Yen has become the sole breadwinner for her family. Despite suffering from heart disease since childhood and having weak health, she still strives to make a living. Before her illness worsened, she worked as a construction laborer to supplement her income. Currently, Ms. Yen works at a rice cake factory near her home, earning about 150,000 VND per day, but the income is unstable, as she only works 2-3 days a week.
Unstable income makes treatment for her heart valve disease very difficult. Although the doctor recommends regular check-ups every 2-3 months, she only goes when she has enough money, otherwise she maintains her medication regimen at a cost of about 1,200,000 VND per month.
Sharing her story on the program, Ms. Yen expressed her wish to earn money for medical treatment to prolong the time she could care for her child, but that wish remains unfulfilled. There were times when the family ran out of money, and the two of them had to go to her parents' house to ask for food to get by.
Hai Dang also suffers from a heart condition inherited from his mother, diagnosed with pulmonary artery valve regurgitation, frequently experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath, and being excused from physical education classes. Due to difficult circumstances, he doesn't receive adequate treatment and has to share medication with his mother. Hai Dang only wishes he could buy his mother a plate of broken rice - her favorite dish - and a new bicycle to ride to school, but he always keeps it a secret for fear that his mother won't have the money.
Sharing from actress Thanh Huong
Thanh Hương expressed her sorrow over the plight of Hai Dang's family, who were already struggling after losing their breadwinner and are now facing even greater hardship due to illness. The actress was particularly worried about the health of both mother and son, as Hai Dang is so young yet already suffering from heart disease. She hoped the community would join hands to help him receive treatment and have a better life. The 8X actress also decided to donate 5 million VND to help alleviate some of the family's difficulties.
MC Duong Hong Phuc couldn't hide his emotion at the family's tragic circumstances: the loss of their father, their mother's illness, and a recent fall that further weakened her health. He expressed his admiration for Ms. Yen, who, despite the hardships of life, still strives every day for her children.
Meritorious Artist Duc Khue also shared his sorrow over the difficult circumstances that Hai Dang and his mother are facing in life. The male artist expressed his admiration for Ms. Yen for her unwavering strength in raising her child, and encouraged the family, hoping that in the future they will have better conditions for medical treatment and an improved life.
