May 22, 2023
Islamabad [Pakistan], May 22: Pakistani authorities have initiated trials in the country's controversial military courts against those involved in deadly riots and attacks on military installations over the arrest of ex-prime minister Imran Khan.
The announcement was made by Army Chief General AsimMunir, the military's media wing ISPR said late Saturday.
According to the ISPR, the army chief visited military installations "vandalized by politically motivated rioters" in the eastern city of Lahore.
"The legal process of trial against planners, instigators, abettors and perpetrators involved in the May 9 tragedy has commenced under Pakistan's Army Act and Official Secret Act," the army chief said.
