Pecresse to represent France's Les Republicains for 2022 presidential elections

Paris (France), December 5: Valerie Pecresse, President of France's Ile-de-France region, will represent the Les Republicains party in the presidential elections scheduled for April 2022, after winning the party's elections on Saturday.
Pecresse won the second round of the party's elections with 60.95 percent of the vote, against Eric Ciotti, a deputy of the French National Assembly, who gained 39.05 percent.
Some 140,000 party members voted during the elections for the nomination of a candidate to represent Les Republicains.
Formed in 2015 from the party Union for a Popular Movement (UMP), Les Republicains is the second largest party in the French National Assembly.
