Jan 14, 2020

Tokyo (Japan), Jan 14: Tokyo prosecutors have re-arrested a lawmaker in a widening bribery scandal, involving casino resorts. The fresh allegations accuse Tsukasa Akimoto of accepting favors from a company bidding on the lucrative contracts.
Akimoto was arrested last month on suspicion that he took about 27,000 dollars in cash from a Chinese firm, 500.com, in 2017.
Now, prosecutors are arresting the lawmaker again, this time alleging the firm also covered his travel expenses when he took a private jet to Macao.
Akimoto's lawyer says he denies all the allegations.
