Seoul (South Korea), Oct 19: A senior member of Japan's main ruling Liberal Democratic Party says senior officials of a South Korean parliamentarians' group will visit Japan next month.
Kawamura Takeo, a former chief cabinet secretary and a senior official of a Japan-South Korea parliamentarians' union, made the comments at Narita Airport after returning from a three-day trip to the South on Monday.
Kawamura met in Seoul with Kim Jin-pyo, who recently became the new head of a similar union on the South Korean side, and Lee Nak-yon, chief of the ruling Democratic Party and a former prime minister.
Kawamura said senior officials of the South Korean parliamentarians' union, including Kim, will visit Japan from November 12 to 14.
Kawamura said officials on both sides are concerned about the current state of bilateral ties, and agreed that efforts are needed to improve relations. He also said the governments should hold talks in a positive manner.
