Democrat Booker ends US presidential campaign

Jan 14, 2020

Washington (USA), Jan 14: US Senator Cory Booker, an African-American Democrat, has dropped out of the presidential race.
The New Jersey senator announced his withdrawal on Monday. He had stood out as a candidate who could give minorities a voice when he entered the race for the Democratic nomination in February last year. But he failed to win enough support among party members. He said he lacked the money to continue his campaign.
President Donald Trump tweeted on Monday, "Now I can rest easy tonight. I was sooo concerned that I would someday have to go head to head with him!"
More than 10 candidates are competing for the Democratic presidential nomination with three weeks to go before the first caucus is held in the state of Iowa.
