Zhuji (China), January 3: Seven Guangdong Southern Tigers players scored in double-digit points in a 132-95 rout of the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Saturday night.
An eye-catching duel became a one-sided slaughter after Xinjiang's key players Zhou Qi and Zeng Lingxu sat out for rest. Although the young Xinjiang team opened with an 8-1 run, Marshon Brooks came off the bench helping Guangdong to outscore 25-22.
Guangdong then spurred 15-3 run to build solid lead in the second period, which grew to 66-37 at halftime break as Xinjiang failed to make shots on offensive ends.
"We totally lost our rhythm in the second quarter and you couldn't have so many breakdowns, especially against a team like Guangdong," said Xinjiang coach Adiljan.
With Guangdong well controlling the pace for long stretches in the second half, they never been threats and sealed a blowout win.
Marshon Brooks had a game-high 25 points for Guangdong whose all 12 players scored on the court. Abdusalam Abdurexit had 19 points for Xinjiang.
