Tokyo (Japan), Mar 26: Japanese firm Asics says it will use the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics to develop more advanced products for athletes in 2021.^
Yasuhito Hirota, President and COO at Asics, told NHK he's glad they've settled on a decision.
Hirota said, "The games won't arrive for another year, and in that time sports technology will undoubtedly progress. So we plan to keep developing shoes and apparel that incorporate the latest technology so that athletes can always be at their best."
Asics produced official uniforms for Japanese athletes to wear at the awards ceremony. It was also to provide sports gear including running shoes.
The company is an official sponsor of the Tokyo Games, but its contract will expire at the end of December. The manufacturer is expected to hold talks with the organizing committee about extending the contract.
